About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Fundraising and Community Relations Officer to join our team at Islamic Relief AU. As a key member of our Fundraising and Community Relations team, you will play a critical role in supporting our humanitarian mission by conducting fundraising initiatives and building relationships with local communities in NSW.

Key Responsibilities
  • Fundraising and Community Relations
    • Develop and implement fundraising initiatives and campaigns to support IRAUS's humanitarian mission.
    • Build and maintain relationships with local communities, mosques, and other stakeholders to promote IRAUS's programs and initiatives.
    • Identify and pursue new fundraising opportunities and partnerships.
  • Support to Programs Team
    • Support the Programs Team in developing and implementing local programs in NSW.
    • Provide expertise and support to the Programs Team in creating new fundraising appeals and campaigns.
  • Volunteer Management
    • Support the Fundraising and Community Relations Team in managing volunteers and resources.
  • Communication and Representation
    • Communicate with external organisations, including local authorities and mosques, to promote IRAUS's work and initiatives.
    • Represent IRAUS at events and meetings, as approved by the Director of Fundraising and Community Relations or the Communications Manager.
  • Financial Management
    • Fulfil all obligations and follow all IRAUS financial policies and guidelines with regard to the collection and processing of donations.
Requirements
  • Knowledge and Skills
    • Knowledge and understanding of the local area and community.
    • Excellent time management skills, including prioritising and planning work, setting and achieving deadlines.
    • Strong facilitation and networking skills to build diverse internal and external relationships.
    • Good written and verbal communication skills in English.
    • Cross-cultural communication skills and knowledge of Islamic faith values.
    • Engaging interpersonal skills and ability to provide effective staff/volunteer supervision.
  • Experience
    • Experience in a similar community-based role in the not-for-profit sector.
    • Good computer knowledge, including Office 365, Word, and Excel.
    • Flexibility, including willingness to work outside office hours as required.
    • Driving licence and vehicle in reasonable condition.
