Senior Estimator Role Summary

We are seeking an experienced Senior Estimator to join our team at a leading organization. In this role, you will work closely with the National Business Development Manager and General Manager to prepare, coordinate, and manage project tenders.

The successful candidate will have a strong background in estimating and a proven track record of delivering high-quality estimates on time. You will be responsible for attending internal project meetings, managing tender submissions, and leading the estimating team in reviewing and assessing post-tender clarifications.

You will also be responsible for developing proposals for waterproofing systems based on design documents, critically analyzing tender documents, and providing Bills of Quantities (BOQs). Additionally, you will need to accurately assess plans and take-offs, gather and monitor actual costs vs estimated costs, and maintain historic data and price sheets.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Attend and report at regular Internal Project Meetings
  • Manage tender submissions including undertaking quantity take-offs
  • Attend and report at Post Tender Meetings with prospective Clients
  • Lead Estimating Team with reviewing and assessing Post Tender Clarifications
  • Develop proposals for waterproofing systems based on design documents
  • Critically analyze tender documents and provide BOQ
  • Accurately assess plans and take off
  • Gather and monitor actual costs vs estimated costs, maintaining historic data and price sheets
  • Build effective relationships with clients, subcontractors, suppliers, and direct labour
  • Organize estimating team with leadership and direction with regard to means, methods, and strategy
  • Maintain and compute take-off data through the use of Cubit for quantity surveying purposes
  • Develop and maintain unit costs accurately
  • Review estimates prepared by estimating team including Returnable Schedules / Addenda and the like
  • Attend sites to gain proficient understanding of production schedules and material usage
  • Participate in Company and Inter-Company Training Days

Requirements:

  • Estimate projects in accordance with company requirements
  • Prepare estimates with concise budgeted materials and labour hours
  • Deliver projects from estimation to delivery with a high standard of quality as set out in the company's quality expectations
  • Review incoming work and assessment of the works
  • Unsuccessful tender follow up and review
  • Implement Estimating Procedures to estimating team
  • Formulate and maintain Cost Database (to ensure competitive pricing)
  • Understand and apply aspects of construction methods relating to waterproofing and its Standards
  • Handover of successfully tendered (awarded) projects including preparation of marked up drawings
  • 4-5+ years of experience in senior estimating
