Energy Systems Manager

We are seeking an experienced Energy Systems Manager to join our team at Horizon Power. As a key member of our operations group, you will play a critical role in shaping the energy future of Western Australia.

Salary: $120,000 - $135,000 per annum + Super + allowances

Job Description:

The successful candidate will be responsible for monitoring and controlling power systems across regional Western Australia, including 38 power systems in the Pilbara and State. This will involve dispatching generation to match load and changing conditions on the system, as well as responding to weather-related events to ensure safety and security of supply.

You will also be responsible for coordinating outages, creating operational switching schedules, and communicating effectively with regional workforce, contractors, managers, and executives regarding emerging issues and threats to our power systems.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Electrical trade qualifications or Diploma/Degree in Electrical Engineering
  • Extensive experience in the operation and control of power systems
  • Sound understanding of power system fundamentals, including management of generation, renewables, and power flows across complex high voltage and low voltage networks
  • Experience in high voltage switching and generation dispatch and coordination
  • Foundational knowledge in planning and design of power systems, including protection systems
