About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Arbitration Dispute Resolution Officer to join our team at EML (Employers Mutual Limited). As a key member of our claims team, you will play a critical role in the management and resolution of disputes, ensuring positive outcomes for our clients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Attend Work Injury Commission (WIC) hearings and provide expert advice on dispute resolution strategies.
  • Evaluate the merits of disputes and determine resolution strategies, actively participating in arbitration hearings and conciliation conferences.
  • Gather and prepare evidence for arbitration hearings and conciliation conferences, including arranging and cross-examining witnesses as required.
  • Engage with internal and external stakeholders to resolve disputes and negotiate settlements.
  • Review and report on identified scheme trends and individual cases, staying up-to-date with case law and precedents affecting claims determinations and the scheme.
About You

We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced professional with a strong background in Victorian workers compensation disputation and litigation processes or alternative dispute resolution. You will have excellent engagement, negotiation, conflict resolution, people, and stakeholder management skills, as well as a strong understanding of Victorian workers compensation legislation and case law.

You will be highly approachable with excellent oral and written communication skills, including previous advocacy experience. You will be competent in the use of Microsoft Office products and able to use claims management data systems.
