Child Mental Health Specialist

We are seeking a part-time psychiatrist to join our Developmental Disability Mental Health Team (DDMHT) in the Vancouver Island region.
- Key Responsibilities:
- Assess and consult with patients having intellectual disability, autism, FASD, Down Syndrome, and mental health needs.
- Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team of Nurses, Psychologists, OT, and Psychiatrists to provide community-based consultation services.
- Develop and lead modified CBT &/or DBT groups for individuals with developmental disabilities and mental health needs.
The successful candidate will work with DDMHT. Patients may be located anywhere on the island, and some appointments may be conducted via telehealth. In-person appointments will take place in Greater Victoria area.
Teaching and Research Opportunities:- This role offers opportunities for teaching medical students and residents as part of the UBC Faculty of Medicine.
- An application to UBC for a clinical appointment is expected.
- Participation in research is strongly encouraged and facilitated by the employer.
Administrative duties include attending clinical team meetings and providing reports. Office space, computer, and administrative support are available.
This is a rewarding and diverse full-time psychiatry practice that can be created by combining available other part-time positions.
