Emergency Medicine Trainee Role

This is a minimum 6-month term opportunity in Melbourne, where you will be responsible for assessing and treating presentations to the emergency department under supervision from senior doctors.

You will be part of the Emergency Department team and report to the Clinical Director, the Directors of EM training and the medical team leader on shift.

The key responsibilities include:

  • Independently assessing and managing multiple patients under supervision of seniors
  • Independently prioritising a set of decisions/tasks/referrals for multiple patients

To excel in this role, you should possess:

  • Excellent communication skills to interact with patients and colleagues
  • Leadership qualities to act as a positive role model to junior staff
  • Ability to direct immediate and future learning through reflective practice
  • Capacity for self-directed learning and participating in departmental teaching
  • Skills to actively teach junior staff clinical skills expected of a novice clinician

The successful candidate will have:

  • General registration with AHPRA
  • Valid ACLS/APLS certificates
  • TS3/4 trainee status with ACEM
