Mental Health Advocate Specialist

As a Carer Consultant at SA Health, you will be part of a multidisciplinary team providing high-quality care to individuals living with dementia and severe behavioural symptoms.
Your role will involve placing the person at the centre of individualized care, engaging with carers and loved ones throughout the consumer's journey, while ensuring care is respectful and responsive to preferences, needs, and values.
About the UnitThe Repat Neuro-Behavioural Unit (RNBU) provides specialized care to individuals living with dementia and severe behavioural symptoms.
You will be working collaboratively across a multi-disciplinary team to provide care that values relationship-centred approach.
Responsibilities- Representing the point of view of family/carers at team planning and service planning activities
- Contribute to a multidisciplinary assessment of strengths, support needs and goals of the person with a mental illness, with family members
- Recognise a relationship centred approach where individuals are understood within a matrix of relationships through which they experience their lives
- Contribute to care planning, wellbeing reviews and coordination of a person's treatment and support
- Experience in community development and advocacy within a human services context
- Lived experience as a carer of someone with dementia or a consumer of mental health services or programs
- Demonstrated commitment to, empathy for, and appreciation of, the experience of caring for a person living with a dementia or a mental health diagnosis
- Able to establish and maintain working relationships with a wide range of people from differing cultural/language/sexuality/health backgrounds
- $67,589.00 - $72,033.00 per annum (pro rata)
