Cost Control Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled Cost Control Engineer to join our team at Bechtel Corporation. As a key member of our project implementation team, you will be responsible for supporting the development and execution of cost control procedures, estimating, analysis, and control activities for projects with significant non-routine requirements.
Your primary focus will be on preparing cost studies, cost trends, and developing and implementing project requirements for cost control. Your analysis will provide innovative solutions to cost engineering challenges, driving business growth and improving project outcomes.
Main Responsibilities:- Trend detection, monitoring, and reporting to the project management team to ensure timely identification and mitigation of potential issues.
- Forecasting cost and schedule impacts on budget resulting from trends and suggesting effective mitigation plans to minimize risks.
- Understanding Bechtel's trend process and subcontract/key requirements for changes in contracts to ensure seamless project delivery.
- Supporting the analysis of assigned change-related initiatives or work planning requiring detailed change assessment and response planning efforts.
- Contributing to the overall trend program schedule and facilitating trend focus meetings through collaboration with all disciplines to achieve successful project outcomes.
- Preparation and analysis of cost estimates, comparisons of scope, quantities, and cost data between projects, and performing productivity analysis of Construction operations.
- Developing and supervising the preparation of cost studies utilizing historical data, statistical analysis, and cost and quantity comparisons, as well as identifying new techniques to meet specific needs.
- Responsible for trend evaluations, ensuring consistency with previous reports, and issuing required reports by management and project procedures.
- Monitoring project development, flagging deviations from budget, and preparing and evaluating trends.
- Assisting in developing unit job-hour and pricing data for a specific discipline or other specialty, performing data analysis, identifying problems, and making recommendations.
The estimated annual salary for this role is around $140,000-$160,000, depending on experience and qualifications.
Requirements:- Bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 8-10 years of relevant experience or 12-14 years of relevant work experience.
- Knowledge of estimating methods, processes, and procedures.
- Experience in quantity takeoffs, statistical analysis, and cost and price analysis.
- Skilled in understanding and implementing technical discipline processes, engineering drawings, quantity determinations, and mathematical and financial reports.
- Thorough understanding of cost indices and escalation projection sources.
- Ability to understand and contribute to risk and contingency assessments.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, including presentation skills and ability to address the project management team.
- Intermediate knowledge of Excel – such as lookups, pivot tables, complex graphs.
- Knowledge of BETK – Bechtel's internal estimating software – and how to conform estimate details into budgets for packages.
