
Electoral Complaints Specialist

Attracting a skilled Electoral Complaints Specialist to coordinate investigations and administration of electoral complaints is essential for our organisation.
This role involves working closely with internal and external stakeholders to determine appropriate actions within the established complaints framework, policies, and procedures. Key responsibilities include reviewing complaints, conducting preliminary investigations, monitoring incoming complaints, maintaining accurate records, responding to stakeholder enquiries, and contributing to policy development.
The successful candidate will have highly developed interpersonal and relationship management skills, with the ability to build and maintain effective working relationships and influence others in a diplomatic and professional manner.
Special conditions of this role include temporary employment on a term basis up to 12 months, strict neutrality regarding political affairs, and a satisfactory criminal history check. Extensive out-of-normal-working-hours duty may be required during elections, and some interstate and intrastate travel may be necessary.
Key qualifications:
- Review and determine whether preliminary investigation is required for complaints made under relevant legislation.
- Conduct preliminary complaints investigations in accordance with organisational policies and procedures.
- Monitor incoming complaints to ensure high organisational risk or complex complaints are escalated promptly.
- Maintain accurate records and evidence to support any matters referred for enforcement or prosecution.
- Respond to stakeholder enquiries and provide guidance on matters of limited complexity, escalating more complex enquiries as needed.
