Job Title: Compliance Officer - Gas

We are seeking a highly skilled Compliance Officer - Gas to join our team at the State Government Of Victoria, Australia. As a Compliance Officer - Gas, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safety and efficiency of energy supply in Victoria.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct technical inspections of gas installations and appliances to ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
  • Respond to complaints from industry and the public regarding potential breaches of the Act, Regulations, Standards, and unsafe work practices.
  • Carry out enforcement actions, including issuing warning letters or infringement notices, as required.
  • Assess and inspect installations and appliances to ensure they meet legislative and Energy Safe requirements.
  • Exercise appropriate powers to carry out enforcement actions and respond to site incidents, inquiries, and complaints.
  • Prepare compliance and audit reports related to inspections and audits.
  • Present evidence and information to support enforcement action.
  • Support and deliver safety programs to verify the capacity of duty holders to comply with legislation.
  • Participate in the development and implementation of strategies, risk management practices, and controls to systems, processes, and effective data management.
  • Contribute to the development and improvement of legislation, regulations, standards, codes, and practices.
Requirements:
  • Current gasfitter/Type B gasfitting registration.
  • Extensive technical inspection gas installations, gas appliances, and auditing experience in the relevant field.
  • Practical knowledge in the principles and practices related to the field.
  • Sound knowledge of relevant Acts, Regulations, Standards, and Codes of Practice with ability to interpret and apply where applicable.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently.
  • High level communication, advocacy, and dispute resolution skills that fosters effective relationships.
  • Excellent customer service skills and ability to deal with complaints made by stakeholders.
  • Experience with providing authoritative written and verbal technical advice and findings to a diverse range of stakeholders or act as subject matter expert.
  • Ability to conduct complex analysis on designs and formulae and problem-solve issues.
  • High level interpersonal skills, including ability to influence and keep internal and external stakeholders informed on safety matters.
  • Excellent organisational and planning skills.
  • Computer literacy including Word, Excel, Outlook, and Power Point.
