About the Role

The Australian Government is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Marketing and Media Officer to join our team. As a key member of our communications team, you will be responsible for developing and implementing marketing and media strategies to promote the Australian Government's policies and initiatives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Marketing and Media Planning: Develop and implement annual marketing plans and tactical campaigns to promote the Australian Government's policies and initiatives.
  • Communications Budget Management: Manage the Communications Budget to ensure effective use of resources and achieve desired outcomes.
  • Electorate Engagement: Identify and maximize opportunities for electorate engagement, including community outreach and stakeholder engagement.
  • Media Relations: Drive the electoral media agenda, including responding to media requests and creating media releases and events.
  • Content Creation: Develop and manage social media content, including photography and video creation, to engage with the community and promote the Australian Government's policies and initiatives.
  • Website Management: Manage the Australian Government's website to ensure it is up-to-date and effective in promoting the government's policies and initiatives.
  • Newsletter and Email Management: Prepare regular newsletters and emails to keep stakeholders informed about the Australian Government's policies and initiatives.
  • Media Monitoring: Monitor local and national media to stay informed about issues affecting the Australian Government and the community.
  • Talking Points: Research and provide talking points for the Parliamentarian as required.
Requirements
  • Strong Communication Skills: Possess strong oral and written communication skills to effectively communicate with stakeholders and the community.
  • Copywriting and Publishing Skills: Have strong copywriting and publishing skills to create engaging content for social media and other channels.
  • Relationship Building: Be able to build and maintain relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders, including community groups and media outlets.
  • Media Landscape Understanding: Have a strong understanding of the media landscape and be able to liaise with all media outlets.
  • Photography and Videography Skills: Possess photography and videography skills to create engaging content for social media and other channels.
  • Social Media Knowledge: Have a well-developed understanding of social media platforms and traditional paid media channels.
  • Project Management: Be capable of handling multiple projects with competing deadlines and prioritizing tasks effectively.
  • Attention to Detail: Possess excellent attention to detail and recordkeeping skills to ensure accuracy and efficiency in all tasks.
  • Teamwork: Be able to work independently or as part of a team to achieve desired outcomes.
  • Flexibility: Be prepared to work overtime as required and travel to various locations as necessary.
  • Government Knowledge: Have knowledge of government, Parliamentary processes, and contemporary affairs.
What We Offer
  • Competitive Salary: A commencing salary between $71,245 and $83,179 will be negotiated depending on experience and relevant skills.
  • Optional Allowance: An additional optional allowance of up to $12,907 may be considered in recognition of, and as compensation for, reasonable additional hours of work.
  • Relocation Assistance: Relocation assistance, studies assistance, and paid study leave may also be available (subject to eligibility requirements).
  • Superannuation: An employer superannuation contribution of 15.4% will be payable.
