Child and Adolescent Mental Health Specialist

The role of the Child and Adolescent Mental Health Specialist is to provide recovery-focused clinical services for children and adolescents in the community.

  • Provide assessment, care coordination, intervention, liaison, and review for children and adolescents presenting with mental illness, distress, and/or risk issues.
  • Conduct mental health assessments and provide evidence-based interventions for children, adolescents, and their families/carers.
  • Collaborate with consumers, their families, and carers, as well as other stakeholders, to achieve positive outcomes.
  • Utilize a collaborative, strengths-based approach to the care of mental health consumers.
  • Demonstrate high-level communication skills and proficiency in computer literacy.

Essential Qualifications and Skills:

  • Tertiary qualifications and current registration with Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency as a Registered Nurse, Occupational Therapist, or Psychologist.
  • Demonstrated experience in contemporary clinical Child and Adolescent Mental Health practice.
  • Understanding of the NSW Mental Health Act (2007) and principles of mental health rehabilitation and recovery.
  • Current unrestricted drivers' licence and ability to maintain. Ability and willingness to drive/travel as the role requires.

Working Conditions:
