Child and Adolescent Mental Health Specialist

The role of the Child and Adolescent Mental Health Specialist is to provide high-quality, recovery-oriented support to children and young people aged up to 18 years accessing mental health services within a large paediatric healthcare entity. The specialist will work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team to deliver patient-centred care that is underpinned by trauma-informed practices, strengths-based approaches, and family-centred care.
The specialist will be responsible for providing individualised support, safety planning, and advocacy to children and young people presenting with mental health concerns or conditions. They will also be required to contribute to the development of clinical supervision strategies and quality improvement initiatives within the service.
To be successful in this role, applicants will require tertiary qualifications, professional registration/membership, and postgraduate experience in the delivery of suicide prevention support services. Excellent negotiation, decision-making, and advocacy skills are essential, as is the ability to interact constructively and collaboratively with diverse stakeholders at all organisational levels.
Other key responsibilities include:
- Providing education and training to enhance service delivery and guide others in providing excellent service in suicide prevention.
- Contributing to the development of policies and procedures related to mental health care.
- Engaging with community support services and organisations to promote collaboration and facilitate access to other resources.

Requirements- Tertiary qualifications in a relevant field (e.g., psychology, social work, occupational therapy).
- Professional registration/membership with a relevant professional body.

- Ability to interact constructively and collaboratively with diverse stakeholders at all organisational levels.
