About the Role

We are seeking a seasoned arts leader to oversee art staff within our broader Arts and Culture team. The ideal candidate will have a strong focus on history, working closely with other departments.

The key responsibilities include:

  • Leading collaboration within the wider Arts and Culture team to deliver engaging exhibitions and public programs that inspire diverse audiences.
  • Developing and implementing arts initiatives that enhance Glen Eira City Council's reputation as a hub for inspiration, education, entertainment, and connection.
  • Designing and delivering exhibitions, programs, and interpretation that attract and interest new audiences and repeat visitors.

About You

You will bring expertise in arts programming, including gallery operations and heritage collection management. You enjoy working collaboratively to deliver engaging exhibitions and public programs that inspire, educate, and connect diverse audiences.

The following qualifications and experience are required:

  • Tertiary qualification in history, museum studies, art curatorship, or relevant discipline.
  • Experience in historical collection development, assessment, and recording, together with knowledge of archival principles and practices.
  • Demonstrated strong writing skills for documentation of research, preparation of reports, correspondence, and project documentation.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and liaison skills.
