Melbourne, Victoria, Australia QinetiQ Full time

QinetiQ is a leading defence and security company with a global presence, employing over 8,500 people across more than 50 locations worldwide. Our company offers premier expertise in advice, services, and technology-based products to our customers, helping them solve complex challenges.

We strive to deliver and improve today while anticipating and shaping tomorrow's possibilities, making QinetiQ an exciting, rewarding, and respected place to work and learn. Globally, QinetiQ has four sectors, one of which is the 'Australia Sector'. This sector has more than 1,200 employees operating across four countries: Australia, Canada, Germany, and the United Kingdom.

We welcome applications from Defence Industry Commercial Strategists to work with our customer, the Land Systems Division of the Defence Capability Acquisition and Sustainment Group (CASG), on the LAND 400 program. Phase 2 and Phase 3 of the LAND 400 Program will deliver the next generation of Armoured Vehicles to the Australian Army, replacing the current fleets of Australian Light Armoured Vehicles (ASLAV) and M113 Armoured Personnel Carriers that have been in service for decades.

The Land Systems Division of CASG is responsible for acquisition and through-life-materiel support for designated land systems for the Australian Defence Force, delivering a diverse range of capabilities to support 'raise, train, and sustain' requirements and operational deployments. The LAND 400 program presents another opportunity to work in support of this dynamic organisation.

  • Contract administration, management, and reporting
  • Interpreting and advising on the ASDEFCON suite of contract templates, including tender development and evaluation
  • Drafting contract and finance approval documentation
  • Supporting the customer's procurement strategy by conducting strategic analysis and planning in areas such as Australian Industry Content strategies, MOUs, and CCPs
  • Maintaining collaborative relationships with Defence and industry stakeholders
  • Developing and implementing an export control strategy
  • Interpreting and advising on Defence policies and procedures
  • Collaborating with a team of commercial specialists.

To be successful in this role, candidates should ideally have:

  • A Bachelor Degree in a commercial field, such as business, accounting, law, or a related field
  • Strong experience gained in a commercial team, preferably in Defence Industry or a Government Department
  • Experience in establishing and managing complex contracts and procurement concepts
  • A strong working knowledge of Commonwealth Procurement Rules and the procurement life cycle
  • The ability to interpret technical teams' requests and develop the appropriate documents
  • Extensive experience in Defence finance, procurement, and reporting software tools and applications
  • Knowledge of international (including ITAR) export control policies and guidelines supporting the procurement of specialised materials and items
  • Experience with managing budgets and finance in evolving R&D programs
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to collaborate at all levels.

Due to the nature of the role, applicants must be eligible for Australian Defence security clearance.

Our competitive remuneration package includes benefits such as individual professional development allowance, access to LinkedIn Learning, flexible work arrangements, purchased leave program & loyalty leave, up to 18 weeks paid parental leave, annual incentive scheme, complimentary salary continuance insurance, annual volunteering leave, and a relaxed dress code.

We value diversity of thought and actively seek applications from people from diverse backgrounds and experiences, including women, veterans, and First Nations people. Our Diversity and Inclusion Strategy and Reconciliation Action Plan drive these efforts.

The estimated salary for this role is $120,000 - $160,000 per annum, based on national averages and the level of experience required.
