About the Role

The Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet is seeking a highly skilled and experienced leader to fill the position of First Assistant Secretary, Information Services. This role will be responsible for the strategic direction and operational management of the Information Services Division.

Key Responsibilities
  • Strategic Leadership: Provide authoritative advice to the Secretary, Prime Minister's Office, and Ministers' Offices on cyber risk and security matters.
  • Operational Management: Oversee the delivery of the department's strategic, operational, and technical IT and security objectives and strategies.
  • ICT Management: Lead and provide strategic advice, direction, change management, and planning for the department's technology and information services.
  • People Management: Provide exceptional leadership, people management, and governance skills, including understanding of risk and innovative approaches to technology and information services delivery.
Requirements
  • Leadership Experience: Proven leadership capability, exhibiting judgement and professionalism.
  • ICT Management Experience: Proven track record of leading organisational change and reform initiatives, while continuing to deliver on the operational requirements of the position.
  • Communication Skills: Strong communication and consultation skills to engage on complex issues at senior levels.
  • Cultural Competency: Ability to communicate sensitively and effectively with Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander peoples, and willingness and commitment to continue to develop cultural competency.
