Our organization is seeking a seasoned Biodiversity Planner/Advisor to join our team. As a Principal or Senior, you will play a key role in shaping the environmental and biodiversity planning landscape of Brisbane.

Job Description

As a key member of our team, your primary responsibility will be to provide expert guidance on environmental and biodiversity planning initiatives. You will lead complex projects, manage internal teams and external consultants, and develop strategies to foster high performance and customer focus.

Your duties will include:

  1. Providing technical leadership and expertise to team members on environmental and biodiversity planning initiatives.
  2. Offering expert advice aligned with legislative, policy, and organizational requirements.
  3. Leading delivery of complex projects, managing internal teams and external consultants to achieve strategic goals.
  4. Developing team capabilities to foster high performance, continuous improvement, and customer focus.
  5. Contributing technical expertise to the development and implementation of strategies and policies related to environmental and biodiversity issues.
  6. Facilitating community consultation and representing the Council at various forums.
  7. Possessing a current 'C' Class Driver's Licence.
  8. Acting as a key delegate and advocate within the department, providing professional advice to stakeholders.
Required Skills and Qualifications

To succeed in this role, you will require:

  • A relevant degree qualification for the position.
  • Extensive knowledge and experience in biodiversity or environmental planning, strategic planning, and project management.
  • Proven experience leading complex environmental projects and mentoring multidisciplinary teams.
  • Ability to achieve high performance in time-sensitive environments with diverse stakeholder interests.
  • Strong project management skills, including risk assessment and mitigation.
  • Deep understanding of relevant legislation and environmental planning principles.
  • Expertise in advising on strategy and policy related to environmental and biodiversity issues.
  • Leadership skills to manage teams through change and uncertainty.
  • Excellent communication skills, capable of conveying complex concepts clearly and negotiating sustainable outcomes.
  • Experience in stakeholder engagement for complex projects.
