The role of Principal & Senior Biodiversity Planner/Advisor involves leading complex environmental and biodiversity planning projects for the local community.

Main Responsibilities
  • Provide expert guidance to team members on environmental and biodiversity planning initiatives.
  • Offer strategic advice aligned with legislative, policy, and organizational requirements.
  • Lead delivery of complex projects, managing internal teams and external consultants to achieve business objectives.
  • Develop team capabilities to foster high performance, continuous improvement, and customer satisfaction.
  • Contribute technical expertise to the development and implementation of strategies and policies related to environmental and biodiversity issues.
  • Facilitate stakeholder engagement and represent the organization at various forums.
  • Possess a valid driver's license.
  • Act as a key delegate and advocate within the department, providing professional advice to stakeholders.
Required Skills and Qualifications
  • A relevant degree qualification is essential for this role.
  • Extensive knowledge and experience in biodiversity or environmental planning, strategic planning, and project management are required.
  • Proven experience leading complex environmental projects and mentoring multidisciplinary teams is desirable.
  • Able to achieve high performance in time-sensitive environments with diverse stakeholder interests.
  • Strong project management skills, including risk assessment and mitigation, are necessary.
  • A deep understanding of relevant legislation and environmental planning principles is crucial.
  • Expertise in advising on strategy and policy related to environmental and biodiversity issues is highly valued.
  • Leadership skills to manage teams through change and uncertainty are essential.
  • Excellent communication skills, capable of conveying complex concepts clearly and negotiating sustainable outcomes, are required.
  • Experience in stakeholder engagement for complex projects is highly desirable.
