Job Description

The Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Specialist plays a vital role in supporting the EHS Manager by providing expert guidance on Workplace Health and Safety (WHS) and Return to Work (RTW) matters. This position ensures compliance with legislation and standards, and leads the implementation and continuous improvement of the EHS Management System, aligned with ISO 45001.

This specialist must be able to support the EHS Manager in building and delivering EHS activities across ANZ, including updating and delivering the Safety Management System, focusing on chemical management programs, safety risk assessments, and applicable registers.

Maintaining and updating relevant workflows, such as LOTO and Electrical safety practical assessments, is also a key responsibility. Additionally, this person will monitor delivery of facility EHS requirements and support element owners to build evidence for compliance.

An important aspect of this job is leading and delivering New Employee Orientation sessions, tools, and resources. Supporting People Leaders and their employees on health and safety programs, risk assessment, Accident/Incident reporting, LOTO, etc., is also crucial.

Completing safety Gemba walks, conducting general hazard inspections, Strength of Defense Matrix (SoDM), and site audits with key stakeholders to drive improvements are also essential duties of this position.

This specialist will contribute data and information to enable accurate and timely EHS performance reports. Drafting Safety Alerts and workplace EHS briefings are additional responsibilities of this role.

Assisting in preparing for compliance audits and providing support during third-party external audits are also key tasks of this position. Managing the return-to-work process and associated documentation is an important part of this job.

Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Fundamental knowledge in Workplace Health and Safety.
  • Awareness of A&NZ WHS Legislation codes and standards.
  • Prior experience working in high-risk industry environments with office-based and field teams.
