We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Workers Compensation Information Officer to join our team in Adelaide, Australia.

About the Role

As a member of our Workers' Compensation Service team, you will be responsible for providing expert advice and support to injured workers navigating the complex workers' compensation system.

  • Maintain accurate records of calls and queries on a database.
  • Ensure eligibility criteria is met, referring workers to the Coordinator/Advocate for representation, and identifying possible issues with legal merit when required.
  • Provide general advice on workers' rights, return-to-work systems, and rehabilitation services available to injured workers.

You will work closely with our Workers' Compensation Service Coordinator, Advocate, and other team members to ensure the highest possible standard of service to our clients. This role would suit an early-career lawyer, paralegal, or industrial officer with experience in industrial law.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide expert advice and support to injured workers.
  • Maintain accurate records of calls and queries.
  • Collaborate with the Workers' Compensation Service team to ensure high-quality service delivery.

Requirements:

  • Legal, paralegal, or industrial officer skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • A working knowledge of the Return to Work Act and relevant workplace legislation.
  • Prior experience working for a trade union or in an in-house role with exposure to industrial relations or employment law.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills and ability to manage complex priorities.
  • Demonstrated commitment to union values and integrity.
