Auxiliary Firefighter

About the Role

This is a critical position in ensuring public safety and emergency preparedness across Queensland. As an auxiliary firefighter, you will be part of a team that responds to fire and other emergency incidents.

The successful candidate will have strong leadership and management skills, as well as excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Key Responsibilities
  • Respond to fire and other emergency incidents in a safe and effective manner.
  • Promote community safety and emergency preparedness through education and outreach activities.
  • Develop and maintain competencies by participating in regular drills and training courses.
  • Maintain required attendance standards for emergency incidents and training.

Requirements
  • Suitable applicants must hold a valid driver's licence and be willing to commit to attending 50% of calls as a day worker or 30% of calls as a shift worker.
  • They must also be able to live or work within a reasonable distance of the auxiliary fire station.
  • Australian Permanent Resident Status is also a requirement.
