Innovation Leader

We are seeking an experienced innovation leader to provide strategic direction for our department's innovation portfolio.

  • Proven experience in creating and evolving architecture models to inform business processes and ICT systems.
  • Experience leading innovation portfolios and driving adoption of emerging technologies and innovative practices.
  • Ability to facilitate stakeholder engagement across government, industry, and not-for-profit sectors to co-design, prototype, and pilot solutions.
  • Ability to provide high-level strategic advice to senior executive stakeholders on innovation opportunities, risks, and enablers.
  • Proven ability to foster a culture of innovation and build capability across departments and agencies.

About the Role

The successful candidate will:

  • Provide strategic leadership of the department's innovation portfolio, ensuring alignment with organisational priorities and government objectives.
  • Integrate innovation methods, tools, and resources into departmental policy development processes.
  • Drive the adoption of innovative practices and emerging technologies to improve service delivery outcomes.
  • Facilitate stakeholder engagement across government, industry, and not-for-profit sectors to co-design, prototype, and pilot solutions.
  • Represent the department's innovation agenda at portfolio, APS-wide, and cross-sector governance forums.
  • Identify, assess, and scale effective innovation practices and outcomes.
  • Build capability and foster a culture of innovation across the department and portfolio agencies.
