The Female Aboriginal Health Worker provides culturally appropriate antenatal and postnatal support to improve birthing experiences and outcomes for Aboriginal women at a major hospital.
This role requires the ability to work effectively with multidisciplinary teams, provide direct assistance and support to expectant mothers, and ensure culturally appropriate dealings with other healthcare professionals.
- A strong background in this area is highly desirable but not essential.
- The successful candidate will have a Certificate IV in Primary Health Care Practice or be willing to attain one.
- They must also have knowledge of and affinity with the local Aboriginal community, as well as firsthand understanding of Aboriginal families and culture.
- Other key skills and qualifications include the ability to work collaboratively, communicate effectively, and provide sensitive care.
