Job Opportunity: Data Center Operations Specialist

The Infrastructure Operations team is a key component of our organization, supporting our rapidly expanding business and customer base 24/7. We are dedicated to maintaining the physical infrastructure of our data centers, upholding standards in safety, security, availability, productivity, capacity, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness.

The Data Center Operations Specialist will handle data center operations, including risk management, preventive and corrective maintenance of critical infrastructure, vendor management, and metric reporting within an Amazon data center.

We are looking for individuals with little to no experience who are results-driven, possess a technical understanding of electrical or mechanical systems, and have a passion for learning data center operations. The role reports to the DCEO Manager and focuses on maintaining availability, managing costs, assessing and mitigating risks, and reviewing maintenance activities and metrics.

As a Data Center Operations Specialist, you will collaborate with a diverse team of software, hardware, and network engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, operations managers, and other key roles. Your efforts will help us uphold the highest safety and security standards while delivering extensive capacity at minimal cost to our customers.

This is a fixed-term position with the potential for full-time employment. As part of our team, you will contribute to the design, implementation, commissioning, and expansion of new facilities, manage facility assets and inventory, participate in construction and operational meetings, support work order compliance, and review contractual SLAs.

  • Assist in managing contractors and vendors on-site, ensuring compliance with practices and procedures.
  • Maintain performance benchmarks, analyze data, and prepare reports on infrastructure operations and maintenance.
  • Create change management requests and incident management tickets as directed.
  • Contribute to documentation related to business and facility operations.
  • Support rack installation and power provisioning within operational constraints.
  • Participate in routine maintenance and emergency services for systems such as switchgear, generators, UPS, power distribution, chillers, cooling towers, and monitoring systems.
