Job Overview

The role of an Instructional Strategist is a key position in supporting educational leaders to drive student learning priorities.

This position requires someone who can model evidence-based instructional strategies, lead teachers to transform practice, and enhance each student's engagement with learning outcomes.

The Instructional Strategist will work closely with teachers to design flexible curriculum and contemporary pedagogies, promote learning outcomes, and build teacher capacity.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with educational leaders to support the implementation of teaching and learning strategies.
  • Use research and data to inform planning and decision-making.
  • Develop and maintain effective relationships with teachers and colleagues through collaboration and critical thinking.
  • Foster a growth mindset that supports student-centred learning.
  • Model highly accomplished teaching using contemporary pedagogy and flexible curriculum design.
  • Possess high-level communication skills and interpersonal skills, including empathy and confidentiality.
  • Engage in ongoing professional learning as a connected educator who contributes to system-wide learning.
  • Support teachers in the use of digital technology to enhance learning.
  • Contribute to a culture that enables imagination, creativity, and innovation.

Functions of the Role

  • Lead, mentor, and coach teachers to provide experiential learning experiences where students exercise choice to demonstrate knowledge and understanding.
  • Initiate and engage in professional discussions with colleagues to evaluate practice and improve educational outcomes for students.
  • Establish, develop, and implement effective instructional strategies.
  • Lead professional learning dialogue by facilitating opportunities for teams of teachers to meet, plan, prepare, deliver, and evaluate learning.
  • Support educational leaders to ensure programming, assessment, and reporting documentation is compliant and adheres to Diocesan and NESA requirements.

Requirements

The successful applicant will be expected to uphold the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers at either the Highly Accomplished or Lead Teacher level, specifically in the areas of Know Students and How They Learn, Plan for and Implement Effective Teaching and Learning, Assess, Provide Feedback, and Report on Student Learning, Engage Professionally with Colleagues, Parents/Carers, and the Community.
