Job Overview:

The Central Adelaide Local Health Network is seeking a skilled Orthotics and Prosthetics Support Specialist to join their team. As an integral part of the CALHN Orthotics and Prosthetics Service, you will contribute to delivering clinical services to patients, assisting with technical fabrication and maintenance of client orthotic and prosthetic devices.

About the Role:

You will work under general direction, assisting O&P clinicians with the fitting of simple orthotic devices and providing patient education and advice on the safe use and maintenance of equipment provided. You will be responsible for maintaining adequate levels of consumables, ensuring the cleanliness and safety of facilities and equipment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to the delivery of clinical services to patients, including assisting with the fitting of simple orthotic devices
  • Assist O&P clinicians with technical fabrication and maintenance of client orthotic and prosthetic devices
  • Maintain accurate records of patient information and workload data
  • Perform administrative tasks, including documentation, photocopying, and filing

Required Skills and Qualifications:

To succeed in this role, you will require:

  • Prior experience working with people in a caregiving or therapeutic role, including giving manual handling assistance to individuals with physical disabilities
  • Ability to apply rehabilitation skills under direction and interact with others in a tactful, sensitive, and ethical manner
  • Physical strength and flexibility to safely handle patients and equipment
  • Excellent communication and documentation skills
