Postdoctoral Researcher Opportunity in Ocean Circulation

Research Role:
The Southern Ocean circulation plays a pivotal role in the global climate system, and understanding its dynamics is crucial for predicting future climate scenarios. This research opportunity focuses on investigating the physics of the Southern Ocean circulation, with a particular emphasis on eddy mixing and its interactions with jet-topography.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement numerical models to simulate Southern Ocean circulation and associated processes
- Analyze observational data to refine our understanding of these processes and their impact on the climate system
- Integrate this knowledge into climate models to improve their accuracy and predictive capabilities
Requirements:
- A strong academic background in physics, mathematics, or a related field, preferably with a Ph.D. in hand
- Demonstrated expertise in numerical modeling, data analysis, and programming languages such as Python or Fortran
- International collaboration and communication skills are highly valued
Scholarship Details:
This scholarship is tenable for 3 years, with a possible 6-month extension. Successful applicants may also receive additional funding if they obtain an APA scholarship.
