Research Opportunity in Ocean Circulation and Climate System

We are seeking a highly motivated PhD candidate to investigate the physics of the Southern Ocean circulation and its role in the climate system. This research project aims to advance our understanding of eddy mixing, particularly in relation to jet-topography interactions.

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to contribute to the development of process-based models and apply theoretical and observational approaches to evaluate and improve climate models.

For this position, we require strong academic background in physics and/or mathematics, with a focus on fluid dynamics and numerical methods. The ideal candidate should be familiar with programming languages such as Python or Fortran and have experience with data analysis and visualization tools.

Candidates must demonstrate excellent communication skills and be able to work independently and collaboratively as part of a research team.
