Job Overview

The Climate Change Research Centre is a multidisciplinary research group that focuses on atmospheric convection, global climate modelling, and ocean science. Our oceans program explores the dynamics of global ocean thermohaline circulation, water-mass formation, the Antarctic Circumpolar Current, western boundary currents, and the ocean carbon cycle.

We are seeking a highly skilled Postdoctoral Research Associate to work on a project funded by the Australian Research Council. The project aims to investigate mechanisms for warming of Antarctic continental shelf waters using high-resolution ocean-sea ice models.

The successful candidate will have a Ph.D. in physical oceanography, climate science, or geophysical fluid dynamics, with experience in ocean modelling and numerical climate modelling. They will also possess excellent communication skills, as well as the ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently in a research environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct independent research aligned with the project's objectives.
  • Supervise postgraduate or honours students working on this project.
  • Collaborate with other researchers on related projects.
  • Prepare scientific reports and papers; coordinate research activities; contribute to setting research directions.
  • Maintain effective communication with the international research community.

Required Qualifications

Ph.D. in physical oceanography, climate science, or geophysical fluid dynamics.

Experience in ocean modelling and numerical climate modelling.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently in a research environment.
