Role Overview

We are seeking a strategic leader to drive our prevention and advocacy initiatives, shaping the organisational culture.

This role plays a pivotal part in expanding our impact and reach more animals in need. The ideal candidate will have a passion for animal welfare and be able to blend proactive preventative initiatives with a voice for change.

Key Responsibilities
  • Strategic Leadership & Program Development: Work closely with senior management to set clear objectives and KPIs for prevention and advocacy initiatives.
  • Lead the development and implementation of community-based programs, including education and affordable services.
  • Oversee shelter diversion initiatives to reduce surrenders.
  • Develop a sustainable business model for formal education programs.
Advocacy & Public Influence
  • Lead advocacy efforts by working with lawmakers to strengthen Animal Protection Legislation.
  • Design and launch impactful public awareness campaigns to highlight key issues.
  • Provide expert opinion and evidence-based research to government inquiries.
Reporting, Management & Operations
  • Lead a team of passionate employees and volunteers.
  • Establish a concise reporting suite to track results and monitor performance against KPIs.
  • Manage logistics of community events, including scheduling and resource coordination.
Essential Qualifications and Experience
  • Proven prevention and advocacy success in the animal welfare sector.
  • Tertiary qualification in communications, animal behaviour or a related discipline.
  • Flexibility to work outside of business hours to attend events.
  • A valid driver's licence and commitment to attending all sites regularly.
