About The Role: Animal Welfare League Queensland (AWLQ) is looking for a casual Animal Care Attendant at our Gold Coast Rehoming Centre. AWLQ Animal Attendants play a significant role in ensuring the welfare of our animals.
Key Responsibilities- Work with a dedicated team of staff and volunteers to ensure the welfare of animals in care (dogs, cats, and small pets) to the highest standard
- Maintain and clean animal housing to a high standard
- Provide a high standard of animal care, including administering routine veterinary medications and treatments
- Provide enrichment and behaviour management programs for animals
- Impounding and reuniting lost animals with owners
- Assist customers with pet meet and greets and adoptions
- Maintain high accuracy and attention to detail when updating animal and person records using the digital system
- Deliver exceptional customer service to all visitors to the Rehoming Centre
- Certificate III in Animal studies, companion animals, dog training or behaviour qualification (desirable)
- Knowledge and demonstrated experience with animal care in a professional environment
- Previous animal industry experience in a similar capacity with dogs and cats
- National Police Clearance Certificate
- Experience using digital management software and data entry
- Open driver's license
- Excellent customer service
- Ability to work in a team and independently
- Experience working with dogs, cats, and livestock
- Knowledge of animal quarantine and disease management
- Confident dog and cat handling skills, ability to read body language and communicate animal behaviour
- Computer skills, including Microsoft Office, email, and data management systems
- Ability to work a 7-day roster – weekends and public holidays, with some shifts finishing at 5 pm
- Reliable transport
