The Department of Ocean Engineering and Marine Sciences at Florida Tech seeks a postdoctoral researcher to contribute to our research initiatives focusing on atmospheric modeling and high-performance computing. Our team collaborates with experts from the Department of Energy's Argonne National Laboratory, exploring the physical processes influencing sea breeze and heat stress, as well as local-to-regional precipitation patterns and river flooding along Florida's east coast.
**Estimated Salary:** $60,000 - $80,000 per year, commensurate with experience.
**Job Description:
We are looking for a highly motivated individual with a Ph.D. in Atmospheric Science, Hydrology, Engineering, or a related field. The successful candidate will have experience in atmospheric modeling and high-performance computing, with expertise in analyzing large datasets and conducting downscaling experiments over urban areas. A strong proficiency in one or more programming languages (e.g., Fortran, Matlab, Python, R, NCL) is required.
The position involves working independently and collaborating with team members from diverse backgrounds. The position is initially for one year, with an extension of up to three years based on satisfactory performance.
