We are seeking an experienced educator to share their knowledge and expertise with students in a classroom setting. As a maritime educator, you will have the opportunity to shape the careers of future industry professionals by providing high-quality training and assessment.

About this Opportunity

This permanent full-time position is available to join our Pacific Maritime Training Services team in the Maritime faculty at TAFE Queensland's Cairns Campus. You will be responsible for delivering practical and industry-relevant training to provide students with the skills and experience they need to build lifelong careers.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and deliver training programs that meet the needs of industry partners.
  • Assess student competency and provide feedback to improve learning outcomes.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to ensure consistent delivery of high-quality training and assessment.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry developments and incorporate new knowledge into training programs.
Qualifications and Requirements:
  • Vocational competencies at least to the level being delivered and assessed.
  • Minimum of 5 years Maritime Industry experience as a Chief Engineer or Second Engineer within the last 5 years.
  • Possession of one of the following training and assessment credentials: TAE40122 - Certificate IV in Training and Assessment, TAE50111 - Diploma of Vocational Education and Training, or higher level qualification in adult education approved by TAFE Queensland.
  • Current industry skills directly relevant to the training and assessment being provided.
  • Evidence of undertaking professional development in the fields of the knowledge and practice of vocational training, learning and assessment including competency-based training and assessment.
