Job Overview

The Principal Resolution Officer role is a critical position that requires strong leadership and coordination skills.

This individual must be able to appoint as a Conciliator under section 286 of the Health Ombudsman Act 2013, leading and coordinating the Local Resolution and Conciliation processes of health service complaints under Parts 6 and 11 of the Health Ombudsman Act 2013 (the Act).

To achieve this, the Principal Resolution Officer will:

  1. Ensure efficient and effective delivery of high-quality resolution of complaints through local resolution and conciliation in line with organisation policies, procedures and legislation.
  2. Build and sustain internal and external relationships to enable collaborative delivery of resolution functions.
  3. Lead and coordinate ongoing performance, continuous improvement, and development of the resolution functions to support the OHO meet its strategic objectives and legislative requirements.
  4. Provide training and guidance to the resolution team members in effective resolution skills, including leading conciliations.
  5. Support and supervise the resolution team in managing health complaints through the resolution functions, providing feedback, coaching and mentoring staff.
  6. Provide high-level advice and engage in consultation processes with Triage, Assessment, and Investigations to identify appropriate resolution strategies.

In addition to these key responsibilities, the Principal Resolution Officer will also provide support and supervision to the resolution team, ensuring they have the necessary skills and knowledge to effectively manage health complaints.

This role is ideal for individuals who possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to work collaboratively as part of a team. The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate a strong understanding of the Health Ombudsman Act 2013 and related policies and procedures.
