Fleet Operations Supervisor Job

The Fleet Operations Supervisor oversees the daily activities of a fleet operations team to ensure efficient coordination of vehicle movements, driver dispatch, route compliance, and maintenance scheduling. This leadership role involves supervising fleet controllers or coordinators, driving continuous improvements in safety performance and compliance, and acting as the primary point of contact for operational escalations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Oversight of daily scheduling, dispatching, and tracking of fleet vehicles.
  • Ensuring timely and cost-effective movement of vehicles and goods.
  • Maintaining real-time fleet performance using GPS and fleet management systems.
  • Maintenance of up-to-date records on vehicle availability, usage, and downtime.
  • Supervision and coaching of a team of fleet controllers or coordinators.
  • Leading regular team meetings and providing performance feedback and development.
  • Ensuring adherence to all transport legislation, including fatigue management, NHVR Chain of Responsibility (CoR), and company policies.
  • Conducting or overseeing incident investigations and supporting safety audits.
  • Ensuring that driver and vehicle records, licenses, inspections, servicing are up to date.
  • Acting as the escalation point for service delivery or driver-related issues.
  • Maintaining KPIs, such as delivery performance, fuel usage, vehicle uptime, and reporting to management.
  • Collaboration with maintenance teams to reduce vehicle downtime.
Requirements:
  • A minimum of 3-5 years of experience in fleet control, logistics coordination, or transport operations.
  • Prior team leadership or supervisory experience is required.
  • Strong knowledge of fleet management systems.
  • Familiarity with transport compliance and safety standards, CoR, NHVR, and fatigue laws.
  • Experience working in high-pressure or 24/7 operational environments is advantageous.
