The RoleWe're seeking a highly skilled Senior Planning and Policy Officer to join our Environment and Sustainability Group. As a key member of our team, you'll provide expert advice and guidance on environmental management, including water quality, flood management, energy, climate change, biodiversity, and waste recovery. You'll work collaboratively with other Council teams and the community to develop and implement integrated water and biodiversity strategies, management plans, and community programs.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and implement place-based planning programs in partnership with communities and Council groups.
- Identify and develop projects resulting from place-based planning.
- Provide expert environmental advice on the development and planning of the local built environment.
- Work closely with professional disciplines such as town planners and engineers to progress major policy projects.
- Support the Coordinator Urban Ecology and staff across Council on sustainability projects as directed.
To be successful in this role, you'll need:
- Tertiary qualifications in Environmental Science, Natural Resource Management, Ecology, Planning, Sustainability, or a related discipline.
- Good knowledge of key urban ecology challenges and opportunities.
- High standard of communication and interpersonal skills.
- Experience in community consultation and community engagement, especially in a local government context.
