About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Claims Officer to join our Public Liability Claims team at QBE. As a Claims Officer, you will play a critical role in delivering an exceptional customer experience and managing end-to-end personal injury and public liability claims.

Key Responsibilities

  • Efficiently manage the claims process, ensuring accurate completion and validation of claims;
  • Interpret policy coverage and determine if coverage applies to claims submitted, escalating issues as needed;
  • Set reserves and authorize payments within scope of authority, settling claims in the most cost-effective manner;
  • Proactively manage claims to achieve best customer outcomes and prevent escalations;
  • Establish and maintain good client relationships with the insured, brokers, investigators, solicitors, and the general public;
  • Ensure compliance with relevant statutory guidelines and standards;
  • Respond to enquiries in an accurate, timely, professional, and courteous manner within privacy guidelines.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • A sound technical understanding and ability to manage a diversified portfolio of bodily injury, property damage, and product liability claims;
  • Proven ability to understand and interpret relevant policy wordings;
  • Ability to engage, instruct, and work with relevant providers including loss adjusters, lawyers, and consultants;
  • Legal qualifications will be advantageous but not a mandatory requirement;
  • An understanding of the General Insurance Code of Practice;
  • Ability to effectively collaborate, build, and maintain strong client/customer relationships;
  • Demonstrated analytical and negotiation skills, ability to interpret technical/investigation reports to make sound business decisions;
  • Strong organisational skills alongside proven time management skills.
