Strategic Leadership Role

The Office of the Queensland Ombudsman is seeking a strategic leader to join their Executive Leadership Team as an Executive Director (Corporate Strategy). This is a pivotal role that requires strong corporate services expertise, transformational change, governance, and risk management capabilities.

The successful candidate will have a proven track record in providing high-level strategic advice based on exemplary values of integrity and ethics. They will be able to navigate complex public administration policies and systems, identify trends, inspire and lead change initiatives, and navigate governance and risk within a complex evolving environment.

The Executive Director will play a key role in supporting the Ombudsman by preparing various reports and submissions, ensuring alignment with government priorities, and leading negotiations and communications across a broad stakeholder group.

  • Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide strategic advice to the Ombudsman and ELT regarding governance, change, and risk management
  • Lead an effective enabling services function incorporating teams across Finance and Facilities Services, Information Services, Human Resources, Policy and Projects, Governance, Communications, and Administration
  • Drive major initiatives to support continual agency growth and transformation
  • Support the Ombudsman by preparing various reports and submissions
  • Ensure alignment with government priorities
  • Lead negotiations and communications across a broad stakeholder group

  • Corporate services team leadership with demonstrated success leading multi-disciplinary teams
  • High-level stakeholder engagement skills with proven success communicating and negotiating with diverse stakeholder groups
  • Sophisticated communication skills with a sound understanding of the public sector environment
  • Organisational and forward-planning capacity with advanced planning, prioritisation, and resource management skills
