Job Title: Information Governance Specialist

The role of an Information Governance Specialist is a crucial one in the management and utilisation of information assets. This position plays a vital part in assisting the Deputy Director of Data Strategy & Policy - Air Force to mature and manage Air Force's governance functions for data management.

This position requires a highly skilled analyst with a passion for effective data management at an organisational level. The successful candidate will have experience and skills in database management, including knowledge of data structures for analytical and transactional purposes, various database technologies, and effective data governance practices.

The key responsibilities of this role include:

  • Leading the management of the Air Force Information Asset Register;
  • Developing and undertaking data audits to ascertain data asset scope, quality, meta-data, access controls, and support requirements;
  • Providing advice on implementing data management policies and procedures;
  • Assisting in providing training and advice on data management behaviours and practices;
  • Coordinating the Information and Data Governance - Air Force (IDG-AF) communications efforts.

The ideal candidate will be highly motivated, solutions-focused, and able to present ideas persuasively. They will also possess strong critical thinking, listening, and communication skills, as well as the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.

A strong understanding of contemporary database technologies is essential, as is the ability to demonstrate high levels of integrity, transparency, and professionalism when engaging with stakeholders.

About Our Team

Our team is responsible for enabling Air Force to manage and use its information assets to support timely and effective decisions. We have two key areas of focus: Information Management - Air Force (IM-AF) and Data Policy & Strategy - Air Force (DPS-AF). IM-AF ensures that information management policies and procedures are current, align with broader Defence policies and legislation, and are implemented effectively. DPS-AF matures and manages Air Force's governance functions for data management, ensuring data management policies and procedures are current and aligned with broader Defence policies and legislation.
