Our client AGL are seeking a Data Governance Lead to play a pivotal role in embedding enterprise-wide data governance practices that unlock the full value of organisational data assets. This is a contract role for six months in Melbourne CBD within a hybrid working environment.
About the Role
As the Data Governance Lead, you will champion the development and implementation of a comprehensive data governance framework. You'll lead strategic initiatives to ensure data accuracy, consistency, security, and usability across the business. This is a high-impact role that combines leadership, stakeholder engagement, and technical expertise to drive a culture of data responsibility and literacy.
Key Responsibilities
Design and implement enterprise data governance frameworks, policies, and standards.
Define and enforce data ownership and stewardship models.
Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements (e.g., Australian Privacy Act, SOCI, PCI DSS, GDPR).
Lead the Data Steward Forum and foster cross-functional collaboration.
Oversee data quality, metadata, and master data management initiatives.
Identify and mitigate data-related risks, including privacy and security.
Develop and deliver training programs to promote data governance awareness.
What You'll Bring
Proven experience in data governance, data management, or related fields.
Proven experience in a leadership or senior specialist role.
Proven success in implementing enterprise-wide data governance programs.
Strong knowledge of MDM, data lifecycle management, and cloud data platforms.
Experience with tools like Collibra, Informatica Axon / EDC, Alation, or Microsoft Purview.
Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
Agile delivery experience and familiarity with tools like JIRA and Confluence.
Experience in the utilities sector is highly desirable.
