Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise and Coordinate Staff: Oversee daily activities within Perioperative Services, ensuring safe work practices and quality service delivery.
  • Establish and manage workload priorities based on service needs.
  • Staff Training and Compliance: Ensure all staff complete mandatory training, including equipment safety, chemical awareness, manual handling, infection prevention, and cleaning protocols.
  • Facilitate ongoing staff development and training to maintain high standards.
  • Recruitment and HR Management: Assist in recruitment, selection, and appointment of staff.
  • Manage orientation, induction, and ongoing staff training.
  • Address HR issues such as grievance resolution, performance management, and conflict resolution.
  • Rostering and Payroll Management: Maintain adequate staffing levels through effective rostering and leave management.
  • Coordinate payroll information, including timesheet verification and payroll queries.
  • Quality Assurance and Audits: Conduct regular quality assurance inspections and audits, including cleaning audits.
  • Supervise and monitor laundry and linen supplies in line with contractual agreements.
  • Protocol Development: Assist in developing, implementing, and maintaining protocols, procedures, and guidelines to enhance service delivery.
  • Collaborate with the Clinical Nurse Manager (CNM) in planning and reviewing theatre activities.

Essential Requirements:

  • Proven experience in supervising a large and diverse workforce
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and negotiation skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, Outlook, Power Point)
  • Ability to prepare and manage complex staff rosters
  • Knowledge of legislative obligations in Equal Opportunity, WHS, and inclusive practices

Desirable:

  • Certificate qualifications in Training or Business Management (e.g., Cert IV)
