About us

The department's purpose is to help the community prevent, prepare for, respond to, and recover from fire and emergency events.

This department provides fire, rescue, and emergency management services throughout the state. It encompasses various services, including disaster management, rural firefighting, and emergency response.

Purpose of the role

We provide strategic budget and financial management accounting services to our organization. This includes developing operating and capital budgets in collaboration with business units, budget reporting, analysis, and forecasting services, budget maintenance, costing, investment analysis, and assistance with funding submissions.

As a leader, you will be responsible for managing a team that delivers contemporary budget and financial management services. You will provide high-quality advice and support to senior executives on financial management issues and impacts. You will also contribute to the development and implementation of best practice strategies, policies, systems, and processes to enhance services and meet organizational requirements.

Key responsibilities

Your part in our success will involve providing strategic and operational financial management services, ensuring financial information integrity, and compliance with financial legislation, standards, policies, and practices. You will also manage the preparation of annual operating and capital budgets, forward estimates, and analysis, reporting, and forecasting of departmental financial performance and position. Additionally, you will contribute to the development and implementation of business improvement initiatives to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of financial management and reporting.
