About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Legal Counsel to join our collaborative team at Investa Property Group. As a key member of our legal team, you will provide support to our Chief Legal & Risk Officer in all legal matters, with a particular emphasis on the funds and investment management business.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead all legal matters, including material acquisitions and corporate transactions, capital raises, and debt funding.
  • Assist and manage all legal issues associated with private equity real estate vehicles.
  • Advise on investment management agreements, trust and registered scheme administration, and joint venture investments.
  • Contribute to a strong culture of compliance with legal and regulatory obligations, including providing guidance to the business on emerging regulatory and industry issues.
  • Advise or facilitate external legal advice on material business issues and/or bespoke matters.
  • Review, draft, and/or negotiate a range of agreements.
  • Assist internal clients to manage legal risk while aligning with business and strategic goals and priorities.
Requirements
  • Tertiary qualification in Law or equivalent.
  • 5-8 years PQE.
  • Current Practising Certificate issued in an Australian jurisdiction.
  • Significant demonstrated experience working within private practice at a reputable law firm or an in-house legal function within a real estate funds management and/or investment management company.
  • Relevant experience in the financial services industry with strong technical expertise in both transactional and compliance/regulatory experience of funds management.
  • Experience of structuring funds is highly desirable.
  • Experience working on Mergers & Acquisitions transactions, ideally in the real estate sector.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to present ideas, perspectives, and issues to senior management.
  • Demonstrated ability to navigate through ambiguity and complex situations.
  • Comprehensive understanding of compliance and risk management practices and frameworks.
