The selected candidate will provide strategic, values-driven leadership overseeing regulatory compliance and community safety within a supportive environment that prioritizes work-life balance and professional growth.
Key Responsibilities:- Implement the Council's Safe City Strategy aligned with the Community Strategic Plan and IP&R framework, driving impactful change in the community.
- Lead multidisciplinary teams across environmental health, building compliance, parking enforcement, and ranger operations to achieve exceptional results.
- Respond decisively to high-risk situations, maintaining community confidence and organizational reputation while ensuring respectful service delivery.
- Drive innovation and digital transformation through mobile inspections, data analytics, and automation, championing continuous improvement.
- Build and maintain strong partnerships with key stakeholders, addressing shared community safety challenges effectively.
- Investigate complex issues and represent the organization in legal and regulatory proceedings with professionalism.
- Monitor performance dashboards, leveraging data insights to guide strategic improvement and operational excellence.
- Tertiary qualifications in Environmental Health, Planning, Building Surveying, Law, Regulatory Services, or a related field — or equivalent experience, highlighting expertise in risk management.
- Deep understanding of NSW legislation governing local government compliance and safety functions, ensuring sound decision-making.
- Proven leadership in regulatory or enforcement teams, navigating complex or sensitive issues with tact and diplomacy.
- Expertise in strategic planning, operational excellence, and financial management, driving effective budget allocation.
- Exceptional communication, stakeholder management, and advocacy skills, fostering collaborative relationships.
- Demonstrated ability to lead change, build high-performing teams, and drive continuous improvement, leading to outstanding outcomes.
- Current NSW Class C Driver's Licence, ensuring mobility and accessibility.
