Aboriginal Counsellor

Piliyintinji-ki Stronger Families (PSF) is a culturally appropriate service for men, women and families. PSF works in partnership with other family support services. This pivotal role will be responsible for addressing the social and emotional wellbeing needs of the community. The successful applicant will provide comprehensive counselling services to Aboriginal individuals and families experiencing family violence and associated issues.
The ideal candidate will possess exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with demonstrated experience in engaging with clients and writing documentation and reports. They will also have knowledge of relevant stakeholders, and the proven ability to form networks and relationships with organisations and government departments related to working in this field.
Key Responsibilities- Provide support, counselling and case management for individuals and their families with a team approach to facilitate the healing process for the community.
- Identify trends, gaps, and needs of the Aboriginal population in the Barkly Region to improve access and effectiveness of service delivery.
- Liaise with other agencies, including case management related agencies for referrals.
- Provide presentations, community education and promote AHAC as required.
