Job Description:

As a skilled Bitumen Tanker Maintenance Technician, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safe and efficient operation of bitumen tankers used in road construction and surfacing projects. Your primary focus will be on conducting routine inspections, diagnosing mechanical faults, and performing preventative maintenance on tank systems, including burners, pumps, valves, and hydraulic components.

Key responsibilities include maintaining the integrity of heating systems that keep bitumen at optimal temperature during transport and unloading, carrying out welding and fabrication repairs, monitoring and calibrating temperature and pressure controls, and ensuring all work is completed in line with relevant safety, environmental, and transport compliance standards.

This role requires working both in workshop settings and occasionally on-site, supporting operational readiness and minimising downtime. You will be responsible for conducting daily checks, performing scheduled maintenance, and responding to breakdowns in a timely manner.

Requirements:
  • Mechanical and hydraulic system knowledge
  • Experience with burner systems and pipework
  • Welding and fabrication skills
  • Understanding of hazardous materials handling (especially hot bitumen)
  • Strong safety awareness and PPE compliance
