The Torrens to Darlington Project is a major road infrastructure development in South Australia.
This iconic project involves constructing two separate tunnels – the Southern Tunnels and the Northern Tunnels connected by an open motorway, with a combined total distance of 10.5km.
The project comprises the tunnels, surface works including road and bridge construction in addition to services buildings and complex mechanical and electrical infrastructure.
About The RoleYou will play a vital role in supporting all aspects of heavy plant operations for foundations and bridge construction, ensuring the safe, efficient, and reliable use of plant and equipment.
As the technical interface between site teams, subcontractors, and suppliers, you will provide practical solutions, coordinate logistics, and support project delivery to meet schedule, budget, and quality objectives.
Key Responsibilities- Plan, mobilise, and coordinate heavy plant and equipment for piling, foundations, and bridge construction.
- Monitor utilisation, performance, and implement preventative maintenance programs.
- Provide technical advice on plant selection, capabilities, and safe operating procedures.
- Respond to breakdowns and support repairs, modifications, and upgrades.
- Liaise with subcontractors, suppliers, and logistics teams to manage plant operations.
- Maintain accurate records of inspections, servicing, compliance, and utilisation.
- Support lift studies, equipment planning, and WHS, environmental, and quality compliance.
- Assist with procurement, supplier engagement, and forecasting plant requirements to align with construction programs.
- 2–3 years' experience in plant engineering, civil, or infrastructure projects.
- Relevant qualification in Mechanical Engineering.
- Strong understanding of heavy plant and equipment used in foundations and bridge construction.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings, plant specifications, and maintenance schedules.
- Practical problem-solver with strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
- Confident communicator with the ability to engage and build rapport with subcontractors, suppliers, and site teams.
- Flexible and proactive, with a willingness to work across both site and office environments.
- A strong safety-first mindset with knowledge of WHS standards and safe work practices.
