Genus Group is a leading provider of end-to-end services for power and communications infrastructure to customers in the resources, power, utilities, and communications sectors across Australia.

We have entered into a Joint Venture with Acciona to deliver the HumeLink Project in NSW, which involves the design, construction, and augmentation of the existing Bannaby 500kV substation and 225km of new 500kV double circuit transmission line.

The Role

We are seeking an experienced Cost Controller to join our team in the Sydney CBD office. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in overseeing financial aspects related to the HumeLink East infrastructure project.

Key Responsibilities
  • Track and analyze project costs, including expenditures, budgets, and forecasts, to ensure alignment with project objectives and financial targets.
  • Develop and maintain project budgets in coordination with project managers and finance teams. Monitor budget variances and implement corrective actions as necessary.
  • Prepare accurate and timely financial forecasts, highlighting potential risks and opportunities.
  • Work closely with project managers to evaluate change requests and update budgets accordingly.
  • Review contracts and agreements to ensure adherence to financial terms and conditions.
  • Develop risk mitigation strategies in collaboration with project teams.
  • Ensure compliance with internal policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements related to project cost management.
  • Identify opportunities to enhance cost control processes and tools.
  • Liaise with project stakeholders, including project managers, finance teams, contractors, and clients, to provide regular updates on project financial performance and address any cost-related queries or concerns.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or related field. Advanced degree or professional certification (e.g., CPA, CMA) preferred.
  • Proven experience in cost control or financial management, preferably within the construction, engineering, or infrastructure sector.
  • Familiarity with project management principles and methodologies.
  • Proficiency in financial modeling, budgeting software, and enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems.
  • Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other relevant financial software applications.
  • Strong understanding of financial principles, budgeting techniques, and cost management practices.
  • Ability to analyze complex financial data, identify trends, and draw meaningful insights to support decision-making.
  • Prior experience working on large-scale infrastructure projects is desirable.
