About the Role

As a Senior Safety Advisor at John Holland, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safety of our employees, contractors, and clients on our projects. Your primary responsibility will be to monitor and support the safety function of the project, providing guidance and coordination of safety practices, systems, and procedures.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement a safety culture that aligns with the company's vision, including adequate development and training in safety-critical roles.
  • Ensure the project maintains robust risk management processes, capability, focus, and discipline related to safety.
  • Investigate all causes of events on site and recommend actions to prevent future occurrences.
  • Provide specialist support to internal stakeholders, including operational leaders, project employees, contractors, clients, and visitors.
  • Ensure the project understands and has the tools to meet their regulatory and legal safety obligations.
  • Maintain comprehensive safety records, manage statutory reporting requirements, and monitor safety performance progress.
  • Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of relevant legal, regulatory, and company safety requirements, ensuring workplaces are informed of relevant changes.
About You

We are seeking an experienced and qualified individual with a strong background in safety management. The ideal candidate will have:

  • Advanced Diploma in Safety in Occupational Health and Safety or equivalent.
  • Safety Lead Auditor Qualification.
  • Construction Tier 1 experience (5+ years).
  • Audit management practices (2-3 years).
  • Quantitative and qualitative risk assessment and monitoring of risk controls and actions involved in delivery and implementation of projects.
  • Knowledge of Safety legislation and statutes (especially those relating to Comcare), and ability to interpret any applicable statutes or legislation relevant to the project.
  • Knowledge of Environmental legislation and statutes, and ability to interpret any applicable statutes or legislation relevant to the project.
