The National Parks and Wildlife Service has an exciting opportunity for an experienced and capable person to take on a senior leadership role as a wildlife manager.

Job Description

As a wildlife manager, you will be responsible for the overall management of public land estates, including parks, commercial enterprises, and Crown lands. You will lead a team of senior regional staff charged with ensuring the delivery of park, conservation, and wildlife management initiatives and programs.

You will foster collaborative partnerships with Aboriginal partners, community leaders, landscape boards, local government, and other external stakeholders to advance environmental stewardship and ensure that people have a strong connection to our parks, places, coasts, and country.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead key projects and programs and direct staff in workplace safety and administrative arrangements across the region.
  • Develop and implement innovative delivery of park management programs that stimulate economic growth by connecting people to parks.
  • Drive programs that foster a culture of collaborative working and facilitate economic growth in the region.

Contract

This is an ongoing contract.

Special Conditions

The successful applicant will be required to participate in emergency operations, including bushfire operations, search and rescue, and marine mammal strandings. Inter and intrastate travel is required, including light aircraft travel and occasional overnight absences.

You must be an Australian citizen, permanent resident, or provide evidence that you hold a valid working visa that allows you to work in Australia without restrictions.

Remuneration

Competitive salary - MAS3 $127,859 per annum, plus 12% superannuation, and recreation leave loading.
